Journal Prompts #1
Starting a journal prompt series
It’s Sunday night and I feel inclined to do what I failed before: to resurrect the writer in me after having her dormant for so long. There’s a need to get in touch with a deeper section of myself which requires questioning, yet I stopped the habit of putting in that work.
Somehow I’ve fallen out of love with the thing I cannot help but love. I’m learning to love it again.
For the past two months, I’ve practiced the art of sitting down with a notebook to stitch my words within them. Journaling has become an opportunity to express all that’s in my head before it explodes out of me in ways that overwhelm me. (Also ties into my obsessive need to collect notebooks.) I’m still learning to navigate my own journal ecosystem, but it’s been a lovely experience so far.
When it comes to journaling, my goal is to pull out the details of my thoughts and be descriptive so that I can piece together what I couldn’t see in my head and make it make sense on paper.
Here are some writing prompts I thought of on Sunday night and would like to share for others to use:
Think of a moment you wished played differently…what would you have said to save the moment?
Step outside. Describe how “outside air” feels?
Describe the feeling of accomplishment and how you celebrate?
During the week, how did you show up for yourself? Did you feel it was expensive to do this? (Expensive could be money wise or metaphorically.)
Write down how you find yourself? How do you recognize yourself?
Hope these questions provoke further connection to self. : )
